Player evaluation information coming in January 2025.
This winter/spring, we will launch the Ooltewah Softball Club to provide experienced OYA players and coaches the opportunity to explore a more competitive environment, while maintaining their ability to learn and grow in a traditional recreational (rec) sports outlet.
Here's how it will work:
Teams will hold tryouts in late January/early February to field a tournament team roster. Think of it like a pre-season All-star team.
In order to be eligible for a club team, players must be currently enrolled in our rec program and/or have played at OYA in 2024. Players selected for club play will also be rostered on regular season rec teams and will play the Scenic City schedule with those teams, retaining their eligibility for summer All-stars.
Club teams will play in select tournaments between March and mid-May. A handful of weekends in April and May will be blacked out, so regular season teams can play in Rec tournaments, if they choose. Blackout dates will include the Ooltewah and Scenic City End of Season tournaments.
Each club team will be guaranteed practice time, scheduled by OYA, prior to the Rec season beginning. Once the Rec season begins, club practices will be limited, so as not to conflict with our Rec programs.
We plan to field teams in 8u, 10u, 12u and 14u. Coaches interested in being considered for club play should send a message to [email protected] for more information.
Since club play is in addition to Rec play, there will be an additional registration fee to cover uniform expenses, team entry fees for up to five tournaments, field space for practice, and insurance.
We’re excited to offer this outlet for our players and coaches to continue to grow. Keep an eye out for tryout information after the first of the year.
